The back protector from HORKA provides protection to both the back and front, just like a regular body protector. For back protectors, the standard EN 1621-2 level 2 applies. This protector and standard are adopted from motorsport because equestrian sports do not yet have their own European certification for this type of protector. Similar levels of impact occur in motorsport during a fall, which is why this type is allowed in equestrian sports. Several parties aim to implement a unified certification within a few years to provide clarity in the market. The back protector is increasingly used in equestrian sports because it offers even more flexibility and wearing comfort than the body protector. The EVA foam parts are also perforated, providing improved ventilation compared to protectors with solid foam blocks.
